About MOV, and why convert to MP4

Quality guidance for this conversion
Use Balanced quality at Original resolution: a phone MOV re-encoded to H.264 MP4 keeps its sharpness while dropping the Apple-only overhead. A ProRes MOV will shrink dramatically with almost no visible change — ProRes is a huge editing format, not a sharing one.

Do I lose quality?
A touch, because the video is re-encoded rather than just rewrapped. At Balanced quality and Original resolution the difference is hard to spot, and the file gets much smaller.
What about subtitle tracks in my MOV?
The converter carries the video and audio. If a subtitle track matters to you, pull it out first with the Subtitle Toolkit, then convert.
My iPhone video is huge — will it work?
